The Fondazione Scienza e Tecnica was established in 1987 on the initiative of the Regione Toscana and the Provincia and Comune di Firenze with scientific input from the then Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza (now the Museo Galileo) to promote and disseminate scientific and tecnological culture, taking its cue from the rediscovery and enhancement of the 19^th century Istituto Tecnico Toscano’s historical scientific heritage.
